Joseph F. Lombardi, Jr.
Joe grew up in New Jersey and his interest in painting started in the mid 1960s. While attending Fairleigh Dickinson University, he studied oil painting under the supervision of Ralph Shinsky. Joe's talents were recognized early and he had the honor of being asked to paint the portrait of the current dean and present it at the school's graduation ceremony.
In his early 20's, Joe joined his family business and also served in the US Air Force, which forced him to put his painting on hold. After a few years, time allowed for a return to painting and he studied for eight years under the direction of Todd Butler in Edison, NJ to refine his skills.
Joe owned a restaurant/catering business for 40 years while living in Denville, NJ with his wife and two children. He painted on and off when time allowed and was a member of the Morris County Art Association and participated in their art shows.
He gets his inspiration from the outdoor beauty that surrounds us. While he paints everything from natural landscapes to architecture, his favorite objects are small vignettes such as entryways, windows, and gardens.
After retiring, Joe relocated to California in 2014 to be closer to his two children and grandchildren and currently resides in Manteca. He now has more time to dedicate to his oil painting and looks forward to showing his work.
